This little light of mine…

After Nami island, I continued with the hop-on/hop-off bus. Along the map, one of the attractions was an “Interactive Art Meseum” – no explanation, no pictures or much else to go by. Bearing in mind that Gapyeong is a fairly small town, I expected a couple of digital screens, some buttons, maybe a touch table or two. But no. This museum – just three months old at the time, had really great interactive experiences that were very impressive and definitely lots of fun! Two of my favourites are pictured below. The first one, was a system that visualised movement with these ripples on the wall. The idea was that the user would make a wish by standing in front of the ‘bell’. A gong sound then plays and the user can ‘wave’ their wish across the wall and send it rippling into teh universe. The other exhibit that I thought was gorgeous, was called a Shadow Village. Users move a cube around a table. This cube is viallgaes light and energy source – it’s sun. The shadows and environment projected from the other ‘house’ cubes change. Shadow people collect light, and take it back to their home. It really was beautiful. Kudos to the designers. 4 February 2017
